Built on Setplex’s Zapflex Video Service Platform, Televen Max Aggregates More Than 100 Channels and Drove Over 45 Million Ad Impressions During World’s Largest Football Tournament
Jack ScarrMediablocks, the Latin American systems integrator behind Televen Stream’s record-breaking Copa América 2024 deployment, today announced that it has partnered with Setplex, the online video delivery technology company, to successfully launch Televen Max, a next-generation streaming platform. Built on Setplex’s Zapflex video service platform, Televen Max transforms Televen from a single-brand streaming service into a full-scale content aggregator, bringing together more than 100 channels for Venezuelan audiences.
While Televen Stream established Televen as a digital broadcaster, Televen Max repositions the company as a content aggregator. Launched in June 2026, the platform operates as a network-agnostic virtual multichannel video programming distributor (vMVPD) — a first for the Venezuelan market. Televen Max is purely an online video business, bringing together Televen’s own programming and more than 100 national, international, and sports channels within a single viewing experience, with the platform designed to support significant further channel growth.
“Televen Max is the natural evolution of Televen’s digital business,” said Carlos Hulett, CEO of Mediablocks. “There is no direct competitor to this model in the Venezuelan market today. Other providers operate closed ecosystems built around internet distribution — we are purely in the content business, leveraging Setplex’s video platform to create aggregation value for both consumers and internet service providers.”
Combining Subscription and Advertising Revenue at Scale
Televen Max is structured across four tiers. A free, advertising-supported tier offers Televen’s own channel alongside local programming; a basic tier adds general-entertainment cable channels; a sports tier adds dedicated sports channels; and a full package aggregates more than 100 channels, including premium partners such as AMC and Disney Channel. The shift introduces a subscription business model to Televen’s streaming business — previously, Televen Stream operated on an advertising-only basis.
The platform’s advertising engine continues to deliver strong results: Televen Max’s free, ad-supported tier generated more than 45 million ad impressions during the World Cup 2026, underscoring the scale of engagement Televen has built with Venezuelan audiences.
Televen Max is also available as a value-added television service for internet service providers that do not operate their own IPTV platforms.
A Proven Technology Foundation, Extended for Aggregation
Televen Max runs on the same core technology foundation that powers Televen Stream. This includes Setplex’s Zapflex video service platform — with its content and monetization console and multiscreen application suite — together with Aniview and Broadpeak for advertising and monetization. For Televen Max, Mediablocks and Setplex extended that foundation with Streampool, Setplex’s adaptive CDN, to deliver a premium Televen Ultra HD experience to paying subscribers. The free, ad-supported Televen HD tier scales through a multi-CDN approach spanning Fastly, CloudFront, and Akamai during high-demand events.
Mediablocks serves as Televen Max’s operating partner, managing day-to-day platform operations — including programming, electronic program guide management, catch-up TV, and technical operations — in close collaboration with Setplex, with Televen retaining direct control of content licensing. Mediablocks has also developed a proprietary middleware layer that connects Televen Max to local banking systems, enabling digital payments and providing Televen with business intelligence on subscriber packages and engagement.
“Televen Max is the logical next step following the success of Televen Stream. With Televen Max, Televen evolves from a traditional free-to-air broadcaster into the entertainment hub for the entire Venezuelan family” said Jesús Tamame, General Manager of Televen.
“Televen Max is a strong example of what’s possible when a broadcaster’s ambition is matched with the right technology foundation,” said Lionel Dreshaj, co-founder and CEO of Setplex. “Mediablocks has done an excellent job of evolving Televen’s platform from a single-brand streaming service into a true aggregation hub, and we’re proud that Zapflex continues to power that growth.”
Mediablocks’ technology partners Setplex and Broadpeak will be exhibiting at IBC2026 in stand 5.C82 and 1.F83, respectively, from Sept. 11-14 at the RAI Amsterdam.
