Big Blue Marble delivers record 10 Tbps for European public service broadcaster during the Soccer World Cup

Big Blue Marble supported a leading European public service broadcaster in delivering the Soccer World Cup 2026 streams, supplying more than 10 Tbps of bandwidth through Amazon CloudFront during one of the tournament’s highest-demand matches. The figure represents a new record for Big Blue Marble’s contribution to the broadcaster’s live streaming delivery, achieved as part of a wider multi-CDN platform serving the broadcaster’s national and regional services.

Behind the delivery stood a proactive support model built on experience from the previous UEFA European Championship. Big Blue Marble’s Professional Services engineers were on duty for every match, in continuous contact with the broadcaster’s operations team and monitoring the service in real time. On numerous occasions, they identified and resolved irregularities before they reached the broadcaster or its viewers. Big Blue Marble also worked alongside the AWS Countdown Premium team, an AWS service providing dedicated engineering support for business-critical events, adding a further layer of operational readiness for the highest-demand fixtures.

“Record traffic should be invisible to viewers,” said Krzysztof Bartkowski, CEO Streaming & Cloud Media at Big Blue Marble. “The challenge is to absorb a rapid rise in demand while recognizing the earliest signs of a problem and acting before they affect the audience. Major live sporting events demand broadcast-grade streaming, and we worked closely with our broadcast partner to meet that standard throughout the tournament.”

The World Cup is the third major sporting event Big Blue Marble and the broadcaster have delivered together. Following Euro 2024, Big Blue Marble also supported the broadcaster’s multi-CDN platform during the Olympic Games 2024, with each tournament adding to a shared set of processes and best practices for streaming at national scale. The next test on the horizon is UEFA Euro 2028, where online audiences are expected to grow further still.

Big Blue Marble will present its end-to-end streaming capabilities, including CDN services and Professional Services for major live events, at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, 11–15 September, Hall 5, booth A63.
