Appear (IBC2026 booth 1.C61) will showcase new X & VX Platform capabilities that extend broadcast-grade performance from venue to cloud
Appear ASA (OSE: APR), a global leader in live production technology, will return to IBC (11–14 September, booth 1.C61 at the RAI Amsterdam) showcasing live event contribution, IP transport modernisation and software-defined live production workflows. New advances across its X and VX Platforms extend broadcast-grade performance from venue to cloud.
Nearly a year on from its November 2025 IPO, Appear will demonstrate how broadcasters, production companies, content owners and network operators can combine the density and performance of X Platform hardware with the elasticity of VX Platform software. Together, they create one hybrid operating model spanning venues, facilities, networks and cloud environments.

Continually enhancing the X Platform – bespoke hardware for extreme performance:
The small form-factor X5 gains JPEG XS support, native Dolby AC-4 and Atmos audio, bringing ultra-low-latency contribution and immersive audio to Appear’s compact half-rack platform.
Making its debut at IBC2026 is the ECx400, a next-generation compression module for the X10 and X20 Platforms. Addressing customer demand for codec flexibility, reduced inventory and high performance, Appear launches the module with support for JPEG XS, AVC and HEVC over IP and SDI I/O, combining encoding and decoding on a single card with native Dolby Atmos and AC-4 support for AVC and HEVC workflows. Already selected by two major US customers, the ECx400 will be previewed at IBC ahead of general availability in December 2026.
Making hybrid and cloud production practical with VX:
Appear customers are demanding the performance and resilience of dedicated hardware alongside the flexibility of software. To address this, Appear has made significant progress on new VX Platform software capabilities that simplify ground-to-cloud connectivity and make hybrid production easier to deploy and operate. VX Hybrid Cloud Gateway automatically discovers and imports SRT outputs from connected X Platform systems, while cloud-agnostic deployment and multi-protocol support give customers greater flexibility over where and how they run their workflows.
Further capabilities include VX Cloud Distribution Hub to simultaneously distribute to any platform, Compressed Stream Processing, Hitless Redundancy and Failover, and Enterprise Security. Together, they enable broadcasters to distribute, process and protect live streams in software while reducing the need for dedicated hardware.
