Big Blue Marble is supporting TDF, French infrastructure and network operator, broadcasting Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) and radio services, as a technology partner in the next phase of its large-scale 5G Broadcast initiative in France.
As part of the collaboration, Big Blue Marble is providing its Nakolos 5G Broadcast Core technology and working closely with TDF on the technical implementation and rollout of 5G Broadcast services. The cooperation builds on the work carried out for TDF’s 5G Broadcast launch event in Paris June 25th, 2026 and continues as the network moves into its next phase of deployment.
TDF has activated an initial 5G Broadcast coverage area across several major French metropolitan regions, including Paris, Reims, Bourges and Le Havre. The deployment demonstrates how television, radio and public warning services can be delivered directly to compatible mobile devices without requiring a SIM card, Wi-Fi connection or mobile data subscription.
From Demonstration to Large-Scale Deployment
The collaboration between TDF and Big Blue Marble’s Nakolos-Team goes beyond a single demonstration. As one of TDF’s technology partners, Big Blue Marble is contributing its carrier-grade Nakolos 5G Broadcast Core and technical expertise to support the implementation and operation of the network.
The current phase provides an important opportunity to gain operational experience with 5G Broadcast at scale, validate interoperability across the technology ecosystem and create a strong technical foundation for the further development of 5G Broadcast services in France.
“Our collaboration with Nakolos has developed very positively. Their team combines strong expertise in 5G Broadcast with a pragmatic and flexible approach to implementation, which has been valuable throughout our work together. We look forward to continuing this collaboration as we further develop 5G Broadcast in France.” Jérôme Andres, Marketing Director, TDF
Enabling the Future of Mobile Broadcasting
Built on 3GPP standards and designed for operational deployments, the Nakolos 5G Broadcast Core provides broadcasters and network operators with a flexible and interoperable platform for delivering media and public warning services directly to mobile devices.
Nakolos has already implemented all 5G Broadcast-relevant capabilities introduced with 3GPP Release 19, making the platform ready for the next generation of 5G Broadcast networks and the requirements of large-scale commercial deployments. Combined with its cloud-native architecture, this provides broadcasters and network operators with a future-ready platform that can evolve with the standard while delivering the scalability, flexibility and operational capabilities required for commercial services.
Through its collaboration with TDF, Big Blue Marble’s Nakolos-Plattform is contributing to one of Europe’s most significant ongoing 5G Broadcast initiatives and demonstrating how the technology can enable efficient, scalable and resilient delivery of content and public services to mobile audiences.
